Thorn Creek Habitat Improvement Project

The CWA has partnered with the PA Fish and Boat Commission, Butler Area School District, and many other local partners to create the Thorn Creek Habitat Improvement Project.  Started in 2010, the TCHIP has seen the installation of over 50 instream habitat devices to increase fish habitat, including the stabilzation of over 3500 feet of stream bank and increased riparian buffer.  Success of the project has been documented through electrofishing surveys by the PFBC, showing a two to threefold increase in numbers and species of fish in the improved areas.
