 | Macroinvertebrate surveys - assessing the health of the watershed
by surveying (collecting, counting and identifying) the aquatic (lives
in water) macroinvertebrate (think no backbone (fish need not apply as
they have backbones) and large enough to see) population. These are
fun - basically take a bucket of creek water and pull out the bugs and
bug larvae just to say HI! while you identify and count them. These surveys give us a measure of
how healthy the watershed is in terms of the diversity of aquatic life. |
